A civilized union.....

Once upon a time, in a land, far, far away...

Dorothy Parker and Dr. Seuss fell in love.  This unusual coupling has provided the gene pool for the writer of the following tome:

A Wedding Story

There once was a man named Harrington,
Who met up with a Scanlon from Barrington.
Well, dating soon wrought
Them both, the same thought:
"This man's rockin' and sockin',
But scarey-um"

……………...

Making more of this soap,
Tom (losing hope) in New Hope,
Often prayed to his Pope:
"Could you find a place
Far from these seas?"

Jim had just come from France
and had ants in his pants,
and with that,
Tom and Jim did 'sortie'!

……………….

Jim was a flake,
Who bought on the lake,
And he said he could bake,
But was more of a rake,
And so soon,  to sweet Tom
He said: "Leaf me..."

Now Tom had a plan
To live long with this man,
And Jim's plea went unheeded,
Tee-hee!

So after some dining,
Much whining - and pining,
Jim soon saw the wisdom,
and made him and hisdom

A very nice couple they be!

………

Now off to Vermont
They'll soon go to haunt,
But a hunter's license,
they'll not need.

Tom's long of tooth,
and he has a new suit,
And so, no more suitors,
For he,
will there be.

So a wedding's the hint,
That Tom drops on Jim
And of course Jim says to Tom,
'Well you mean:  ME ?'

Jim thinks this commitment
Again equals wisdom,
So a partner in life,
Will have he.

Tom's wearing his suit,
Jim's quiet,
Aloof.
And the Justice of the Peace says:
"Do thee, take he?"

Jims sighs with his eyes
He moans then he groans he shuffles like Buffalo Bill.
"I will, if he will"
Then: " Who pays this bill?"
They all grin be-muse-ed-ly!

Tom smiles and trills:
"He did it!"
"You saw it!"
"He's actually bought it!"
Someone's finally, really,
WED ME!"

………………..

That night in Barrington,
Messrs. Scanlon and Harrington
Merged their names,
Oh-dear-me!

Turned out to be Scarrington,
A bad pun on Barrington
And separate identities,
They'll need.

………….

And now....
Tom from Barrington
With his buddy, Jim Harrington,
Have set off to sail,
not the sea.

But choppy waters,
Of a relationship ordered,
in quarters,
On Lake Shore Drive

(Sixteen B)!!!!
